David Greygoose


Biography:

David Greygoose is the pen-name of Dave Ward: Greygoose is his great-grandmother’s maiden name.

Dave was born in Northampton and attended Lancaster University where he was involved with Adrian Mitchell’s Song Workshop, took over the editorship of Continuum arts magazine and the promotion of guest poetry readings through the Literature Society; as well as staging a number of multi-media events.

Since 1970 he has lived in Liverpool, working first at the Great Georges Project and then Halewood Community Council, before going on to establish The Windows Project in 1976 –
co-ordinating writing workshops in community and educational venues across Merseyside and the north west.

His published work includes Candy and Jazzz (Oxford University Press); Jambo (Impact Books); The Tree of Dreams (HarperCollins) as well as poetry collections Tracts and On The Edge of Rain (Headland). His poetry also appears in over 100 anthologies, including Faber, Puffin, Macmillan and Hodder & Stoughton. He has been broadcast on BBC2 TV, Granada TV and on BBC Radio One, Two and Four.

Dave has toured to Hong Kong and northern China to give performances, talks and workshops and was writer-in-residence at Nanyang University, Singapore.
